KINDERGARDEN

I went into kindergarten at the age of four. That was the same year the school board changed the entrance date from five years of age by August first, to five years of age by May first. My parents didn’t see why I would have to stay in pre-school for another year. I was just as smart as the other kids, and I was already friends with them. SO they changed my birth certificate. Lets say Dad had connections. It all worked out, I got into kindergarten as a four year old, because my new birthday way January 23. Well, when January 23 rolled around and Mrs. Carnihan asked me if I was bringing cupcakes for my birthday tomorrow, I told her my birthday wasn’t tomorrow, and she must be confused. That evening she called my mother in tears demanding an explanation. The word was out, and I was the first four to be expelled from Winfield Elementary School. I went to a private school for the last five months of school, and then returned to Winfield for first grade.

What great memories!
I just covered an interview of five siblings reunited with their two kindergarten teachers. It was a hoot! Funny what we remember from kindergarten!

Came across your blog randomly. Keep up the great posts! I'd add you to my link but I can't figure out how to do that.

lol I love this story. Do you still celebrate your other birthday? You could have worked that for double presents.
